Most of us like the comfort of working our full time job while we slowly transition to a home based business – there is just more security there.  But I have to tell you, Failure is not an option when your home based business is the only thing you are relying on for money.   The key  is to avoid being too desperate and too needy because you are afraid you won’t be making any money.  Nothing chases people away faster than someone who is obviously desperate.

How do you decide what home based business to work?

That is a very personal question in my opinion.  What works for one person is not going to work for everyone.  For example, I got started in Direct Sales just over two years ago and thought it would be the greatest thing for me to do.  Tons of other people were making money so why couldn’t I?  Problem was, I really didn’t care to spend my entire day on the telephone trying to reach people, or waiting to hear back from them.  I dreaded cold calling (calling tons of people you don’t know) from lead lists I had bought, or co-ops I participated in.  Although I believed in the product,  and really enjoyed the company I was involved with, I didn’t enjoy the work.

When I started getting involved in something I LOVED doing, things changed for me.  I happen to be very fond of Travel. I LOVE to travel – to anywhere.   I accidentally got involved in travel when I purchased a travel membership so that I could go visit places I wanted to see and do it for very little money.  I actually love to travel several times a year and WorldVentures lets me do that. That’s when I discovered it is not very hard to tell people about something you love doing because they can see you enjoy it- because you do!

What ever home based business you choose – make sure you enjoy it, you believe in it, and it would be easy for you to talk about.  You can’t exactly sell liquid vitamins if you don’t take vitamins, right?

How  can I afford to build a business when I don’t have a job, and no money?

Easy!  You follow proven techniques and show you how to utilize FREE Social Markteing Resources like Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, and Twitter. You really can generate leads, generate traffic, access effective Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools, and get your website ranked high on Google and it is not as hard as you think.

I have been working in the Networking Marketing/Multi Level Marketing (MLM) industry for over 5 years now.  When I first got started working a business from home, I was hitting up friends and neighbors trying to convince everyone I met how great my vitamins were for them and their family.  I soon became a honorary member of the NFL (no friends left) club.  People begin to avoid you like the plague when they think you are going to hit them up to buy something you are selling.  Eventually, I progressed to building a business in Direct Sales Marketing. Direct Sales is basically network marketing but the products are typically higher end, top tier, and the compensation plan tends to be much more lucrative than typical MLM.  In the Direct Sales business, commissions are not passed up to uplines, advisors, etc forever and usually only require 1-2 training sales that you pass up, the rest of your new associates you keep on your team.

It was during my learning curve in Direct Sales that I began learning the various techniques and resources that allowed me to grow my business without going broke.  I’d like to say I didn’t go broke learning all this stuff, but I did!  I did the Google Pay per click and ended up spending thousands of dollars because I had no idea what I was doing.  You really do not have to go that route to get a lead to view your website, to generate leads and traffic, and to know what you need to do to get ranked in the search engines. You can do this for next to nothing – if you are willing to spend the time doing it after learning how.

The best two resources that I have come across on the internet for learning how to do this stuff are:  Renegade University where you learn exactly how to maximize Social Networking and Attraction Marketing and market your business for free.  You will learn techniques on blogging, Articles, Videos, Hub Pages and much much more.

A Blog just like this one,  is just another one of the many excellent tools offered through Veretekk. I also have an email system, autoresponder system, tons of traffic portals to give away to others like the Blastomatic in the previous paragraph. I think the thing I love most about the tools I have in Veretekk is the ability to give so much away.  Yea…you heard me right.  I can give away tools and resources so even if a person never does a thing in Veretekk like I do, they still have the advantage of using the tool. Hey, I like to think that’s good Karma if nothing else

I’d like to end with this. No matter what you are going through in your business, it is definitely worth the time and the effort and you don’t want to give up.  There are ways for you to succeed without spending a fortune, I guarantee it!  I now enjoy more time with my family doing things we used to only dream about – trips to the mountains, jazz in the park, breakfast at French Cafes.  I don’t know what your goals are and what you hope to achieve by working for yourself, but don’t forget the Freedom that is there for you at the end of the rainbow….just don’t give up!

To Your Success!

If you’ve been on the internet lately, and maybe searching through ads for an easy online business, you’ve no doubt been overwhelmed by the tons and tons of opportunities out there.  You will find many things out there, and many of them promise to make you thousands in 2 weeks.  I admit it, when I was first searching for a way to get out of the Rat Race, I fell for just about anything that promised me the moon. The easier the business was to do, the more excited I became and also, the poorer.  You know what I mean…….sign up, pay $3000, get your website and start advertising with your 95% automated system.  They said it was so easy, I couldn’t mess it up!   Well, I didn’t mess it up, but I didn’t make much money either. Spent a whole lot though!

During my learning curve, I tried Google, Yahoo, any pay per click I could manage to put together – until I maxed out my credit cards running campaigns. You see, anyone can tell you to log into Google and create a campaign, but the little secrets of the game they don’t tell you can cost you a lot!  Trust me….a lot!
After trying to play a Google game I didn’t know, I maxed out my credit cards  and I had to figure out how I was going to get my ads out there. I then focused on Traffic Exchanges.  What a great idea: sign up, agree to receive emails and when you click on them you get points so that your ad can show to the other members.  All fine and good until you get about 1000 emails – daily!  Who has time to click on emails all day. When I finally figured out I needed to have a seperate email address for those traffic campaigns, then I had to remember to log in and check them.  Ever have your email account show 3000 emails?  Not pretty and what a waste of time when I had way more important things to do – like make money!

These are just a few of my experiences as I learned about the marketing and advertising of my Direct Sales business.  What my experiences did allow me to learn was that even though, easy no hands on business sounded good,  business is about relationships.  No one in their right mind was going to buy anything from a stranger, especially when it cost a couple thousand dollars to join.

About four days prior to that I retired from my full time job to work my business from home full time.  I get to be with my kids, take care of my elderly mother, travel when I want to, and spend each day how I see fit.  I have to say I’ve truly found the true meaning of “freedom”, especially time freedom.
